Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

The Spanish Ministry of Health covers up to 100€ through the Plan VEO. If the glasses cost less than that, you pay nothing. If they cost more, you only pay the difference. For example, glasses costing 140€ would cost you just 40€.

Do I need an appointment?

It is not compulsory, but we recommend messaging us on WhatsApp to book a slot and avoid waiting, especially on Saturdays.

Which documents do I need?

The child’s health card (Social Security, MUFACE, MUGEJU or ISFAS) and the ID card (DNI) of the parent or guardian. For children under 6, also the ophthalmologist’s prescription.

My child already has glasses. Can I renew them?

Yes, the subsidy can be used once a year to renew glasses or switch to contact lenses, as long as the child still meets the requirements.

Can I choose any frame?

Yes, you can choose the frame you prefer. The subsidy covers up to 100€ of the total (frame + prescription lenses with anti-reflective coating).

Does it also work for contact lenses?

Yes, the Plan VEO covers both prescription glasses and contact lenses, plus the maintenance solution needed for a year.

Until when can I apply?

The subsidy is valid until 31 December 2026, but the fund is limited. Once the budget runs out, the subsidy ends. Around 25% is currently left.
